Malawi | Anti-Corruption Bureau Develops Guide to Audit Unexplained Wealth | CUAC
Civil Union – Follow-up The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Malawi has announced the development of a new lifestyle and wealth audit guide aimed at helping investigators identify cases involving individuals whose wealth is disproportionate to their known or declared sources of income. The Acting Director General of the bureau, Gabriel Chembezi, said the Lifestyle Audit Guide targets individuals showing signs of unexplained wealth, whether they are government officials or private-sector employees. The lifestyle audit mechanism allows investigators to compare an individual’s standard of living, assets, and spending with their income and known financial sources, helping identify cases that may warrant further investigation. The bureau said the guide will be submitted to the relevant ministry for approval in the coming period, paving the way for its adoption as part of Malawi’s anti-corruption tools for tracing unexplained wealth.
