Indonesia | Prosecutors Name Toba Pulp Lestari as Suspect in Tax Evasion Case Involving Estimated $113 Million in State Losses | CUAC
Civil Union – Follow-up
The Indonesian Attorney General’s Office has named PT Toba Pulp Lestari (TPL) as a corporate criminal suspect in a case involving alleged transfer-pricing manipulation and under-invoicing between 2008 and 2025.
According to investigators, the company allegedly manipulated the classification and value of certain pulp exports to affiliated companies, resulting in reduced tax liabilities. Indonesian authorities have provisionally estimated the state’s losses at approximately 2 trillion Indonesian rupiah, equivalent to around $113.4 million.
The case follows the designation of two tax officials as suspects last month, over allegations that they received bribes linked to the company’s case.
Investigations and legal proceedings remain ongoing.
