Civil Union – Follow-up
Australian authorities have conducted raids across Queensland and Victoria, including the headquarters of the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU), as well as a number of homes and other sites, as part of an investigation into allegations that improper benefits were provided to union officials.
The investigation is examining allegations of attempts to influence agreements and business arrangements that could enable certain parties to gain access to infrastructure projects related to preparations for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics.
During the searches, authorities seized a number of electronic devices and documents. Investigations are continuing to determine the nature of any potential offences and identify those who may be involved.
No corruption charges directly related to Brisbane 2032 Olympic contracts have been established at this stage, and the case remains under investigation amid ongoing allegations.
