Civil Union - Follow-ups
The Central Bank in the capital, Aden, directed banks, exchange companies and establishments to freeze the accounts, funds and assets belonging to 135 people, entities and marine vessels, based on a decision issued by the Attorney General.
The measures include prohibiting financial and commercial transactions with the listed names, and preventing the opening of new accounts for them, in addition to monitoring transfers and assets and informing the competent authorities to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.
According to published reports, the list includes people and entities that the authorities said are linked to the Houthi group, and includes companies, commercial figures, and five oil tankers.
This measure comes within the framework of legal and financial measures aimed at combating money laundering and the financing of illegal activities, while emphasizing that listing names and freezing assets does not in itself mean the issuance of final judicial rulings convicting all those included in the decision.
