Civil Union – Follow-up
The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) in Pakistan’s Punjab province has arrested six suspects in two separate operations in the districts of Dera Ghazi Khan and Muzaffargarh, over allegations involving bribery and financial misconduct.
According to The Express Tribune, the arrests included two employees of the Revenue Department who were allegedly caught accepting bribes of PKR 30,000 and PKR 35,000, respectively.
The authorities also arrested three officials working for the Suthra Punjab (Clean Punjab) programme, who are suspected of involvement in financial irregularities that allegedly caused losses of approximately PKR 188.45 million to the government. In addition, a former food grain inspector in Muzaffargarh was arrested.
The arrests are part of ongoing anti-corruption operations by authorities in southern Punjab targeting suspected bribery and the misuse of public funds.
Authorities confirmed that legal proceedings and investigations remain ongoing. The allegations against the suspects are still under investigation, and the arrests do not constitute proof of guilt. The suspects remain legally presumed innocent unless and until convicted by a court.
