Civil Union – Follow-ups
The Hungarian Parliament has lifted the immunity of former Minister of Culture and Innovation Balázs Hankó, who served in the government of former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, allowing authorities to continue investigating allegations involving the misuse of public funds.
According to Hungarian prosecutors, the case concerns the management of the National Cultural Fund, with suspected misuse of approximately 17.3 billion Hungarian forints, equivalent to around $53.6 million.
On September 28, Parliament voted to lift Hankó’s immunity, along with that of former Development Minister Miklós Seszták and Prime Minister Péter Magyar, in separate cases.
