Singapore: Sengkang Town Council Denies Two Companies Participated in Its Tenders During Bribery Case Period | CUAC
Civil Anti-Corruption Union – Follow-up Singapore’s Sengkang Town Council clarified on Saturday that J&M Construction and Seah & Lim Construction, whose names were mentioned in a bribery case, did not participate in any public tenders issued by the council during the period covered by the charges. The clarification came after 63-year-old Fua Gim Chuan, a former senior project manager at EM Services, was charged with corruption and money laundering. EM Services provided project management services to Sengkang Town Council during the period in question. The council confirmed that the accused was not its employee but worked for EM Services. One of the charges involves the director of Seah & Lim Construction, who is alleged to have provided S$100,000, while the director of J&M Construction is accused of providing S$50,000, in connection with proposals for contracts linked to Sengkang Town Council, according to court documents. Sengkang Town Council said it had fully cooperated with the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) and had also asked EM Services to conduct an independent external review to ensure that the integrity of the tendering process had not been compromised. The case remains before the courts, and the allegations against the accused remain unproven unless and until established in court. Source: Singapore’s Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB).
