India's Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continues its investigation into a case related to allegations of corruption, bribery and influence peddling, after registering a 251-page criminal report against Rajbir Singh Ghuman, Special Officer (OSD) to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and five other people.
According to Hindustan Times, the investigation includes allegations of influencing appointments and transfers of government officials, administrative procedures, policy formulation, tenders and licences, along with land use conversion issues, in exchange for financial benefits.
CBI teams conducted searches at eight locations in several districts of Punjab, and confiscated electronic devices and documents that the agency said were being examined for evidence linked to bribery and other violations.
The case follows a directive from the Punjab and Haryana High Court to the CBI to register a case and investigate the allegations leveled by the Indian Enforcement Directorate (ED). The accusations are still under investigation, and the responsibility of the accused has not yet been judicially proven.
