Nigeria: Plateau State Strengthens Its Local Anti-Corruption and Accountability Framework | CUAC
Civil Union – Follow-up Nigeria’s Plateau State is working to strengthen its integrity, accountability, and anti-corruption framework as part of efforts aimed at supporting reforms and improving governance mechanisms at the state level. The initiative came during a three-day training program held from August 26 to 28, 2026, aimed at supporting relevant stakeholders in monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the Plateau State Integrity and Accountability Strategy (PLASIAS) for the 2025–2029 period. Authorities said the state has moved beyond merely developing an anti-corruption policy and has established an action plan and implementation structures to carry out the strategy and verify its adoption. This is expected to strengthen local institutions’ ability to prevent corruption, improve the management of public resources, and enhance the delivery of essential services. The program is supported by the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Programme – Phase II (RoLAC II), implemented by International IDEA with funding from the European Union. Participants stressed the importance of making the integrity and accountability framework widely understood and recognized among citizens, helping to strengthen community participation and oversight of institutional performance.
