Former Sri Lankan Foreign Minister, Professor J. L. Peiris, today, Tuesday, appeared at the Committee of Inquiry into Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, to give evidence as part of an ongoing investigation related to a meeting held during his tenure as Foreign Minister.
The Sri Lankan newspaper “Daily Mirror” reported that Peiris’ presence came in response to an official notice asking him to appear before the committee, with the aim of providing his testimony regarding the meeting and the circumstances related to it.
This step comes within the framework of the procedures undertaken by the committee to complete the investigation, without summoning the former minister or listening to his testimony meaning that he has committed any violation.
