Kenyan Anti-Corruption Agency Strengthens Cooperation with Saudi Arabia to Track Illicit Funds | CUAC
Nairobi – The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) of Kenya has announced the expansion of its efforts to trace illicit funds and assets transferred across borders through specialized training conducted in cooperation with Saudi Arabia's Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha).
According to Kenyans.co.ke, citing a statement issued by the EACC, the initiative is part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Kenya and Saudi Arabia in 2023 to strengthen cooperation in combating corruption.
The Kenyan agency stated that Saudi support has contributed to enhancing its capacity to investigate complex corruption cases, track illicit financial flows, and recover stolen assets.
The commission also expressed its appreciation for Nazaha's continued support in strengthening the capabilities of its personnel through specialized training programs covering asset recovery, beneficial ownership identification, illicit financial flow tracking, and the investigation and prosecution of complex corruption cases.
In this context, EACC Chief Executive Officer Abdi Mohamud met with Saudi Ambassador to Kenya Saad bin Abdullah Al-Nofayeh during a courtesy visit on August 13, 2026, where both sides emphasized the importance of international cooperation in addressing cross-border corruption.
The commission noted that the training program aims to improve employees' ability to identify individuals and entities benefiting from assets and to trace complex financial transactions spanning multiple countries.
The cooperation also includes strengthening accountability and oversight of major investments and large-scale projects, contributing to the protection of public resources.
The partnership comes as Kenyan authorities intensify their efforts to combat corruption and recover public funds amid ongoing investigations into cases involving the transfer of public money abroad through illicit financial channels.
