Kenya: Anti-Corruption Commission Investigates Use of Officials’ Relatives to Obtain Contracts and Benefits | CUAC
Civil Union – Follow-ups Kenya’s Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has launched investigations into a network involving county government employees and their relatives on Friday, following the emergence of cases in which spouses, children, and close family members are suspected of being used to obtain financial benefits and government contracts. The investigations are focusing on allegations of conflicts of interest, abuse of influence, and concealing the true beneficiaries of certain transactions within county governments. Reports indicate that the commission is tracing links between government employees and relatives who have appeared as beneficiaries in transactions involving local government departments. The available information emphasizes that the investigation does not mean that all individuals involved have been proven to have committed crimes. Rather, it forms part of the commission’s procedures to verify allegations of corruption and conflicts of interest. Source: Nation Africa
