United States | Investigation into Binance Over Potential Iran-Linked Transactions | CUAC
Civil Union – Follow-up U.S. federal authorities are investigating cryptocurrency platform Binance over allegations that it may have allowed transactions potentially linked to Iran, which could constitute violations of U.S. sanctions imposed on Tehran. According to a report published by Bloomberg and cited by Reuters, the investigation is being led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, with the Justice Department’s Criminal Division also involved. Investigators are examining whether the platform knowingly allowed certain trades that should have been blocked under U.S. sanctions. Binance said it maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward sanctions violations, emphasizing its full cooperation with law enforcement authorities and its commitment to pursuing entities that violate sanctions regulations. U.S. authorities have not yet announced the findings of the investigation or brought charges against the company in connection with the matter. The Justice Department also declined to comment on the investigation. Source – Reuters
