Ecuador | 12 People, Including 10 Police Officers, Arrested in Corruption Investigation | CUAC

Civil Union – Follow-up Authorities in the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil arrested 12 people, including 10 serving police officers and two retired officers, during a security operation conducted as part of an investigation into suspected involvement in an unlawful association. The operation included 16 raids in several areas of the city. Prosecutors are investigating allegations involving the manipulation of evidence held under police custody, as well as the theft and resale of vehicles and spare parts from police impound lots. Authorities said the investigation is still ongoing, and the identities of all those arrested, as well as the individual responsibility attributed to each of them, have not yet been disclosed.
