United States | Sensitive Documents to Be Unsealed in Former Oakland Mayor’s Corruption Case | CUAC
Civil Union – Follow-ups
A federal judge has ruled that sensitive documents in the federal corruption case against Sheng Thao, the former mayor of Oakland, may be made available to the public ahead of her trial, which is scheduled to begin on October 13, 2026.
The materials to be made available to the court and the public include recordings and sensitive information related to the case, while some recordings involving political figures who have not been charged in the case will remain confidential.
Federal prosecutors have accused several defendants, including Thao, of involvement in a bribery and corruption case, as the court prepares to begin the trial in the coming weeks.
The decision to release the documents comes as part of judicial proceedings concerning the evidence that may be presented during the trial.
