Civil Union – Follow-ups
The Central Crime Branch police in Chennai conducted searches on Wednesday at locations linked to former School Education Minister of Tamil Nadu Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, as part of an investigation into allegations that money was collected from private school managements in exchange for facilitating government recognition and approvals.
The searches included the former minister’s residence in Tiruchirappalli, as well as other locations in Chennai and Tiruchirappalli, according to Indian media reports.
The raids are part of an investigation that began following the arrest of P.T. Arasakumar, who is accused by police of collecting more than 100 crore rupees, equivalent to around 1 billion Indian rupees, from private school managements, allegedly in exchange for facilitating permanent recognition, upgrading school classifications, building-plan approvals, and other government permits.
The Central Crime Branch continues to investigate the case, including tracing financial transactions and examining documents and evidence related to the allegations.
