Civil Union – Follow-ups
Sri Lanka’s Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has arrested a former official of the Land Settlement Department as part of an investigation into suspected abuse of authority involving a government-owned property valued at approximately Rs. 1.586 billion.
According to the Commission, the official is suspected of using official departmental documents and issuing a report under an irregular investigation number, through which a government property in the Borella area was allegedly presented as being privately owned.
This potentially caused a financial loss to the government and provided a benefit to another party.
The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
