Armenia: Former President Robert Kocharyan Detained on Corruption Charges | CUAC
Civil Union – Follow-ups
Armenian authorities detained former President Robert Kocharyan on Tuesday and charged him with multiple corruption-related offenses stemming from alleged actions during his presidency between 1998 and 2008.
The Armenian Anti-Corruption Committee said Kocharyan is accused of abusing his position to acquire valuable government property and economically significant assets at prices substantially below their market value.
Kocharyan’s position on the allegations was not immediately clear. The authorities stressed that the charges remain under investigation and do not constitute a final judicial conviction.
