China Expels Senior Communist Party Official as Part of Anti-Corruption Campaign | CUAC
CUAC – Monitoring Desk Chinese authorities have announced the expulsion of Ma Xingrui, the former member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and former Party Secretary of the Xinjiang region, from the Communist Party and referred him to the relevant authorities for investigation and prosecution over corruption allegations. According to Chinese authorities, investigations revealed serious violations, including bribery, abuse of power, influence peddling, and other corrupt practices. The removal of Ma Xingrui comes as part of China's ongoing anti-corruption campaign led by President Xi Jinping, which has targeted high-ranking officials at various levels of the government and the Communist Party over the past several years. Ma Xingrui, 66, previously held several senior government and party positions, including serving as Party Secretary of Xinjiang and as a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China. The case is being viewed as the latest indication that Chinese authorities remain committed to pursuing corruption within state institutions and party organizations. Source: Associated Press (AP)
